TACCF - Hearts as Big as Texas
The Texas Association of Community College Foundations (TACCF), in partnership with Texas community colleges and the Future Alumni Support Team (FAST), has launched Hearts as Big as Texas: Student Emergency Fund, a statewide fundraising initiative to support community college students across Texas facing unexpected hardships that threaten their ability to stay enrolled and succeed.
A financial crisis — an unexpected car repair, a lost job, an empty pantry — can derail a student's education in an instant. Research consistently shows that basic needs insecurity is one of the leading causes of college dropout across the country, and Texas community college students are not immune. A Hope Center #RealCollege survey found that nearly half of community college students nationally experience food insecurity, housing instability, or other basic needs challenges that put their academic future at risk. Texas community colleges have answered the call by building on-campus food pantries, establishing emergency aid funds, and creating wraparound support services to help students weather life's unexpected storms. However, these critical programs depend on sustained community investment to remain available to the students who need them most.
Please select the community college(s) you'd like to support from the list below. All funds raised go directly to student emergency services at Texas community colleges — including food pantries, emergency financial aid, and other essential resources — because no student should have to choose between paying for groceries and paying for school..
