Yes, you can invite a friend to be the beneficiary of your campaign via your dashboard. Click “invite beneficiary” to send them an invite. You will be given a 6 digit code they need to enter to accept the invitation.

You start a *spotfund by telling your story and setting a goal. You will then receive a fundraising page to accept donations and share your campaign. Signing up is free and every donation is yours, whether or not you reach your goal. The most exciting part is you will receive email notifications every time someone donates. *spotfund makes it super easy to raise money online for the things that matter to you. In just minutes, you'll be able to personalize your fundraiser and share it with the people in your life.

Is *spotfund really free?

Yes, *spotfund is really free! We offer a 0% platform fee so that organizers can keep 100% of their donations. Please note that credit card processing companies will take the universally standard 2.9% plus 30 cents from the transaction before it reaches the beneficiaries. For example if someone donates $500 you will receive $485.20 after CC processing fees. International transactions have a 3.9% plus 30 cent fee.

How do I share to Instagram?

You can easily share a *spotfund campaign to an Instagram Story or Post with one click. From your mobile phone, click "Share to Instagram" from the campaign page and you'll be given a selection of auto generated images to post to your Instagram. The share link will automatically be copied to your clipboard - be sure to paste it into your link in bio!

Are my donations subject to taxation?

Great news! In the United States, the IRS generally considers personal crowdfunding contributions "personal gifts" which should not be considered taxable income to the beneficiary in most cases. Our Terms and Conditions strictly prohibit campaigns that offer goods or services in exchange for donations. Please consult with a tax professional if you have any concerns, or if you believe contributions to your campaign would be considered income in your specific case. We will not report your funds raised as earned income.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Personal crowdfunding donations are not tax deductible for donors. Only donations to verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit campaigns can be considered for a donor tax deduction. This will clearly be stated on the campaign and on the donation email receipt.

Can I make my donations private?

Yes, there is an option to have your donations be private and not shown on the platform. Just check the box that says 'Hide my name' when completing your donation.

Can I make my donation "Anonymous" after I already donated?

Of course, just click your profile picture in the menu bar to access donation history and to turn this feature on / off.

What can I raise money for?

People raise money for the causes they care about, nonprofits they support, friends and family, or sometimes strangers in random acts of kindness. Use our platform to raise money for just about everything. Some category examples include Medical, Education, Volunteer, Youth Sports, Funerals & Memorials, and even Animals & Pets.

How do I change my goal?

You can change your goal at any time by clicking into your 'Dashboard' and clicking 'Edit Story'.

How do I add new pictures or videos to my story?

If you have already published a story you can add pictures or videos by clicking into your 'Dashboard' and clicking 'Edit Story'.

How does *spotfund keep campaigns safe?

*spotfund employs the most secure payment encryption technology available. All platform donations are safe, and the money raised is stored securely until campaign creators wish to request their withdrawal via electronic bank transfer.

Are there time limits on my campaign duration?

Your fundraiser will remain active until you choose to deactivate the campaign from your 'Dashboard'. Most organizers keep their fundraisers active indefinitely to maintain communication with their generous donors and interact with the supportive comments they are receiving on their story.

Will my donation metrics be affected if I withdraw my money?

You can request a withdrawal at any time. Withdrawing money does not affect the goal progress or reduce the amount of dollars displayed displayed on your campaign.

How do I get people to donate to my campaign?

*spotfund provides an easy way to raise money from your friends, family, and online community. Our platform makes it simple to share your campaign in a variety of ways to bring in donations, track your progress, and post updates to engage your community. When you receive your unique *spotfund sharelink, share it with as many people in your network as possible, so they can donate to and share your story.

What if I don't reach my goal?

Don't worry - reaching your goal is not required! With *spotfund, you keep every donation you raise. Your campaign will be able to accept donations even after your goal is reached. Once the goal is reached, if you’d like to continue raising money, you can keep your campaign running for as long as you wish.

How can I add donations that I receive offline to my campaign?

You can record donations that you have received outside of *spotfund so your story reflects your complete fundraising total. From your dashboard, find your active campaign and click Update >> Add offline donation.

How is my donation protected?

*spotfund will always protect your donation. Each and every submitted story is vetted for authenticity by our Quality Team. In the rare instance that something isn’t right, we will refund your donation.

Is *spotfund available internationally?

Donors from all over the world can donate to *spotfund campaigns, but you must have a US bank account to create a campaign and withdraw donations.
