Dear friends, family, kind strangers, and good Samaritans,
We’re reaching out with heavy hearts, hoping for a little help during one of the toughest chapters of our lives. My name is Bethany, and in 2025, what was supposed to be a routine hysterectomy turned into a nightmare that nearly took my life.
During the surgery, the surgeon accidentally perforated my colon, leading to severe sepsis. I spent weeks fighting for my life in the hospital, followed by a long, painful recovery. The physical toll was bad enough, but the emotional aftermath has been even harder—I’ve been struggling with PTSD, constant anxiety, and feelings of being a burden to my loved ones. Through it all, my family has been my rock, but it’s taken a huge toll on everyone.
To make matters worse, just as I was starting to regain some strength, our housing situation fell apart. We had a rental lined up and ready for January 15th—everything seemed set. But the landlord listed the house prematurely and backed out, leaving us with no home and no backup plan. Now we’re bouncing between Airbnbs, which is quickly draining our savings. The costs for a place big enough for our family of 5 (we need at least 3 bedrooms) are far higher than a standard rental, and it’s eating into the first month’s rent and security deposit we’d saved for a new long-term place. I don't know if more than one photo can be shared, no one would want to see surgery aftermath pictures anyway. It was gross. I wish I could provide more proof through here or youre welcome to follow me on FB (Bethany Anna- profile pic is my daughter in purple pjs).
We’re a hardworking, responsible family. We don’t drink, we’re not on drugs, and we’ve always paid our bills on time. This isn’t due to poor choices—it’s the result of an unexpected medical crisis followed by a housing mishap completely out of our control. We have limited friends, family, or online following to lean on, and we know everyone is dealing with their own struggles. But we truly believe there are compassionate people out there who understand how quickly life can change.
We’re asking for help to cover temporary Airbnb stays (or similar short-term housing) until we can secure a stable rental. Any amount will make a difference—whether it’s a few nights’ stay or helping bridge the gap to our next home. Your support would give us breathing room to focus on healing, getting back on our feet, and providing a safe, stable environment for our kids.
We’re so grateful for any kindness, shares, or donations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story and considering helping us through this difficult time. Better days are ahead, and with your help, we can get there together.
With hope and gratitude,
Bethany & Family
