Dear friends and family,

My heart breaks for my beloved niece, Alisha (Svoboda) Bauer, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.  This stunning news has left us all grappling with the challenges that come with fighting this disease.

As you can imagine, the news of a cancer diagnosis is difficult for anyone to handle, but it is especially gut-wrenching when it comes to someone as young and vibrant as Alisha. She is a strong and courageous woman who has always been there for others, and now she needs our support more than ever.

For those of you who don't know, Alisha saved many lives while employed as a crisis hotline counselor.  One most memorable to me was a young teenager who planned to take her own life while her mother went grocery shopping.  Alisha asked all the right questions and discovered that the planned event was taking place before her.  Hearing water running in a bathtub in the background, prompted Alisha to notify technical specialists to help determine this teen's location. By acting swiftly, she was able to call the police who in turn dispatched a medical team.  They arrived in time to save her life.  Alisha is a true hero.

Alisha also started working at an early age in the healthcare field with St. John's and Woodwinds hospitals, coupled with providing homecare services for seniors and the Alzheimer's community.

Now, Alisha needs our help.  Despite having limited insurance, many expenses are not covered, and she will be facing a full mastectomy on November 19th. The cost of this surgery, follow-up care followed by a healthier place to live is significant.  This is a burden that she should not have to bear alone.

This is why I am reaching out to all of you. I am asking for your support in any way that you can. Whether it's through a monetary donation or simply by keeping her in your thoughts and prayers, every little bit helps and will be deeply appreciated. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in easing her long road to recovery. With your help, we can alleviate some of the financial stress, so that she can focus on healing and getting back to her normal, vibrant self. Your generosity will give her the peace of mind she needs during this difficult time, and it will also show her just how much love and support surrounds her.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering my request. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express.

With love and gratitude,
