In May 2022, I noticed a small bald spot on my daughter Amelia's scalp. This spot was from an autoimmune condition called Alopecia Areata. Over the course of the next year, we tried several topical treatments, none of which slowed Amelia's hair loss and by June 2023 she had lost 95% of her hair.  We were begining some new medication, but I decided it was time to explore hair replacement options.

First,  I went to a local wig shop that came highly recommended and they told me that she would need a custom made hair piece and that it would likely cost $2,000+.  I came across Children with Hair Loss who provide children with medical hair loss a human hair replacement system completely free if charge.  I think the best part was the application process was quick and easy, my daughter had her wig within a few weeks of submitting her application. In addition to her wig, she also received wig care items, bows, headbands, a  hairbrush and more.

September is Alopecia Awareness month and I would like to give back to CWHL.  My goal is to raise $1,500 which is the average cost to produce one hair replacement system.

Children with alopecia often struggle with confidence, help me restore that confidence in one child.
