A vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter hailing from a musical family legacy. Marcelle Graves is a committed educator and lifelong learner for more than 35 years, She has used music as a primary tool and force to garner change in the classroom, as well as in the community.
Her hard work and commitment to music and motherhood rewarded her with a family of brass musicians who are collectively known to the world today as the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.
Aquilla has had great inspiration in this arena for over 20 years with the renowned Kelan Phil Cohran. Cohran, most noted for African Skies won acclaimed notoriety and as a contributing member of Samana, an all-female jazz group; Nicole Mitchell; National Trust, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, to name only a few.
Aquilla and her late husband, Sadiq, were joined not only in marriage but also in music to write over 30 soundtracks to be found on Soundcloud/Sadiq2; as HuNaFaa… those devoted to God have created and produced albums, ‘We Can Change Things’, Smoovin’, and AsSalaamu Alaikum. She continues to inspire and educate young musicians, passing on her knowledge and passion for music to the next generation. Aquilla’s latest endeavors have been Paris Dejon Theater in France and will the grace the stage in Belgium along with her sons Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. Aquilla has made an indelible mark in the world!
