Charles was kidnapped from CHP in CA after being pulled over for an expired registration! His partner and 2 month baby were in the car when he was taken. They said they had a warrant in their system from Nebraska. They unlawfully arrested him with no actual warrant or charges. Charles and his family are unfortunately the victims here. We finally found out what the warrants were as they wouldn't even show him! They are old bench warrants from an old marijuana charge in Nebraska that he already served about 8 months for there. He was profiled and unlawfully searched. Marijuana is illegal there. He was just trying to pass through the state. The judge admitted it wasn't even a crime here and still sent him there, unlawfully!
Charles has now been extradited to Nebraska after being unlawfully detained in Santa Cruz county jail for over 30 days. They violated his 4th, 6th, 8th, and 9th amendment rights at minimum and their own legal code which said they could only hold him for 30 days maximum, or otherwise he was to be released. They never released him. He should not ever have been jailed.
The legal system is completely corrupt and criminal. They incarcerate far too many people for non-crimes, especially blacks, Hispanics, and the monetarily poor. They get longer sentences, especially if they don't have an attorney. They don't care if they are causing harm to others, like Charles family who is also suffering because of their injustice.
Please help to fund an attorney for Charles. We were trying to get around an attorney as they are corrupt too, but it seems like he may need one as he's all the way out in Nebraska on his own and the system is just so corrupt.
Please help him get back to his family ASAP. He can't even see or hold his newborn! We are all suffering because of the system. We are optimistic though. We are envisioning him finding a good lawyer who can actually help get him out. 🙏
