I asking the community to help me help my father in law Ed and his service dog, Polly.
Ed is a retired Navy Vietnam veteran. Polly is a rescue Pointer / Pit who was prescribed as his service dog. Polly has torn an ACL before and has maxed Ed's savings. She recently tore the other ACL and he cannot afford another surgery. He is facing the realization that Polly will not be able to be a service animal and has no means to obtain another for PTSD.
Ed lives alone and is on a fixed income, 100% disabled and nonemployable. Polly has changed his life so much for the better. He has found joy in her and most importantly, a reason to be. Losing her would be devastating and simply getting a new dog is not possible and would be unfair to Polly. She has so much life in her. They need each other. They've changed each other's lives.
The money were asking for would put Polly on the mend and keep them together.
