I want to set up a go-fund for my daughter, Kelly Knick. She is now fighting Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer along with Fibromyalgia and Type 2 Diabetes. For the past three years, she and her boyfriend, Michael Critchley, have been challenged with many medical issues. They moved in with my husband and me to take care of her father in his final days. After that, they stayed with me for a year since Kelly sold the house in Hanover Twp to help pay for some of her medical bills, to be closer to the medical facilities for treatments, and so we could support each other. A month after my husband/ Kelly’s dad passed away. I found out that I had breast cancer, and Kelly found out that she had a mass in her abdominal area that was the size of a small football. When the doctors took the mass out, they found that she had Stage 1 - Ovarian Cancer while having Fibromyalgia and Type 2 Diabetes. This was after 20 years of being cancer-free from Thyroid Cancer. The next month, she was back in the hospital for another 10 days for Sepsis, which almost took her. The next six months, she and I went through chemo and immunotherapy. Kelly and I ended our treatments in March 2024 with no trace of cancer for either of us. Just when Kelly and Michael were getting things back together, another challenge hit them. At the end of 2024, Michael found out that his left ankle was detaching from his foot in addition to having eye issues where he needs eye injections every 6-8 weeks from having type 2 Diabetes. Over the next six months, Michael was in and out of the hospital and the nursing home. He had four major surgeries, got the Neuro-virus, and needed extensive rehab. For the two+ years that this was happening, Kelly kept a positive outlook (she would not let any type of negativity stay within her). One of the most inspiring things to me is that she worked in a highly stressful job as an Emergency Travel Consultant for two years while facing these medical issues. She is always trying to help others with their issues and focuses on helping others while she keeps herself out of the limelight. She is the most positive person I know. She continues to say, “It is only a minor inconvenience,” even when facing major, long-lasting, and medically challenging issues. You would think that she and Michael had enough issues.
In October of last year, Kelly had to go on FMLA and long-term disability with work because of her Fibromyalgia and Diabetes were getting worse. Then, in January of this year, Michael found out his other ankle was starting to detach from his right foot. So now he must wear braces on each of his legs/feet. This limits his ability to do many things. Just after that, Kelly finds out that her cancer has come back again. This time, Kelly has Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. She is now in the middle of her chemo and immunotherapy again. Unfortunately, Kelly had to resign from her job this month due to serious medical issues. She now must pay her medical insurance in addition to all the medical bills that have been built up since not being able to work for the past six months, using all of her savings and only working part-time for the past three years, while only getting a portion of her pay with the company’s disability plan.
I am hoping that our friends and family can help in any way so that Kelly does not have to worry about financial issues while going through Cancer for a third time. Any amount will help. I know that there are some that are not able to help, and that is ok. There are many who are going through hard times. All I am asking is if you can donate, please donate, and/or please share this. Most importantly, please pray for my daughter, who has a lot more to live and a lot more to give in life, as she has affected so many people in her life in a positive way.
