On Oct 28th, 2022, my 16yo nonverbal autistic son was the passenger in a horrific car accident on the corner of Bemis and Rawsonville Rd in Van Buren Township on his way home from school. Took firefighters 30+min to get him out of the car. He was pinned very tight. Jaws of life didn't work. His hip was dislocated and broken in 2 spots. He had surgery on Saturday to repair it. Doc says he will be down for more than a month, no weight bearing on his right leg. Which will be hard for him to understand.
Thing is-becuz of his autism, poor guy doesn't quite understand what's going on-why he's in the hospital, why he's in so much pain. It's heartbreaking. He's heartbroken. He's the sweetest and loving young man you'll ever meet-he doesn't deserve any of this. He's in so much pain.
The car insurance did not have medical coverage and his Medicaid is not covering anything but his physical therapy after he's transferred to Mott's. Biggest problem is My job doesn't participate in FMLA. I can't leave his side due to his autism and being nonverbal.
Due to me not being able to wrk -We are asking for any sort of help for his rehab and medical bills. This accident was not his fault and I wish the insurance would help us out-they are denying everything.
Any little bit helps! And EXTREMELY appreciated.
