I am not usually one to ask for much, and I tend to not ask at all, but I could use a helping hand. In just a few weeks, I will graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Biology and have plans to get into a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. After applying to 5 programs, 3 of the cohorts were filled, and I have waited patiently to hear back from the last two schools. Blessed by the stars, I was offered a position at the University of Puget Sounds DPT program!
Despite this incredible achievement, I have reached a roadblock in my career path. For me to attend UPS, I need a $1000 down payment to accept my position within their cohort, by next Tuesday. This news is very sudden, and I don't know where to turn.
Unfortunately, financial aid will not cover it in time, and the school has no options to defer enrollment or payment plans offered to help students with the cost of the acceptance fee.
For context, DPT schools are notoriously hard to get into (typically they begin with 600-700 applicants, and only accept 30-40). I only have a week to put a downpayment, otherwise, my admission offer will disappear, and I will have to try again another year.
However, I do not anticipate that I will be able to afford to go through the application cycle again, but I deeply aspire to become a successful physical therapist and support others in my community, in the same ways that I felt supported by my physical therapists growing up.
I still have yet to hear back from one more PT school. If I do not have enough to cover the cost in time, I plan to use this money toward my future education pursuits, and my momentous drive to be a successful physician.
