Please Help Me Help My Boy, Dylan đ¤
Around January of this year, I noticed a lump forming on my dog Dylanâs chest. Dylan is 8 years old, and as many of you know, older dogsâespecially beagles like himâare prone to lumps, skin tags, and growths. At first, it didnât seem to bother him, so I monitored it closely.
This year has been incredibly difficult for me. For all of us. I went through the end of a long relationship, a major move, job loss, and I live with disabilities. Through all of that, I kept watching the lump. Over the last few months, it began to grow more noticeably. It still didnât seem to bother Dylanâbut it worried me. I was scared it would eventually catch on something or cause him pain.
In October, I finally brought him to the vet. The vet gave me three options: continue to monitor it, biopsy it, or remove it and biopsy it. Because it was continuing to grow and would likely need to be removed eventually anyway, I chose removal with biopsy.
Thanks to some truly amazing friends and family, the money raised during my birthday celebrationâwhile I was workingâwent toward Dylanâs surgery. I had almost the full $900 needed.
On October 17th, I dropped Dylan off for surgery and bloodwork. Thatâs when everything changed. The vet called and told me his bloodwork came back with very severe elevated levels. They could not proceed with surgery. The vet was concerned about possible Cushingâs disease and sent him home with me.
The following week, I brought in a urine sample. That test showed Dylan does NOT have Cushingâs disease, which was a reliefâbut weâre not in the clear yet. The vet now needs to rule out a tumor or cancer elsewhere in his body that could be causing these abnormal levels.
To do that, Dylan needs an ultrasound, which costs $600.
If the ultrasound clears him for surgery, the lump removal and biopsy will be another $900.
At this point, I am completely tapped out. Every dollar I have goes toward feeding my animals, gas, my phone, and occasionally splitting car insurance with my mom. The bloodwork and urine tests already used up everything I had saved for the surgery.
I hate asking for helpâespecially because Iâve had to ask beforeâbut Iâm doing this for my boy. I have over 2,000 friends on Facebook. We may not know each other well. We may have met once at a concert, crossed paths briefly, or even just exchanged messagesâbut if even a fraction of you could donate $2, we could cover Dylanâs diagnostics and surgery.
All proceeds raised personally and onSpotFund will go directly toward Dylanâs medical care.
If there is any money left over, it will be donated to a shelter.
All receipts and spending will be shared transparently.
Please help me figure out whatâs wrong with my boy.
Please help me give Dylan the care he deserves.
Thank you for reading, sharing, donatingâanything at all. đ¤đž
