Gerri, as many of you know, has experienced a significant Intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke that has severely impacted the right side of her brain. By the grace of God, she is still here with us and fighting with all her might.
She has made it out of the ICU, out of the hospital and she is now at a facility receiving intensive rehabilitation to recover her ability to walk, talk, eat, and resume her necessary daily activities. Her short-term memory has been lost, but it is slowly re-emerging. She, as of now, is bed/wheelchair bound with left side paralysis.
Unfortunately, her insurance provider has decided not to cover any more of the much-needed therapy that is crucial for her quality-of-life improvement and her discharge date is fast approaching.
While, we have applied for additional long-term care coverage (ALTCS), approval takes a few months. In the interim, her immediate family will have to pay out-of-pocket to ensure that our matriarch, our rock, and the light of our lives is well taken care of and able to recover and return to the vibrant Gerri that we all know and love!
