Hello Everyone!!
Most of you who's receiving this link already know me. But if you don't I'd like to share my story.
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney failure (IGA Nephropathy) in 2018 while I was pregnant. At that time it was very uncertain how long my kidneys would last me. The doctor gave average of 10 to 15 years. This made me switch my career as I hadn't done any financial planning like every other young people. First thing I did was shop for life insurance as I knew I needed something for my daughter if something has to happen to me. But i ws denied for obvious resons. The reson why I am passionate to teach others about the importance of life insurance is because I don't have it nd I wish someone taught me when i was younger and healthier. With that option gone, I started to scramble to see what I can do for myself and my family. Having a small baby and working was hard so one of us had to give up our jobs. Her father Jonathan decided to be stay at home dad so I could work. But unfortunately my disease progressed rapidly. I didn't have enough time to make money, save money and to have enough to go through the treatment and transplant phase. It crept on me faster than I anticipated and I am already in dialysis.
I'm making a little edit here. I received kidney transplant from a living donor, my dear friend Kelly Dyer-Rawlings on 13th of April. I wasn't sure what to expect but now I know I need to be on strict quarantine for about 3 months. I'm in lots of medications which keeps my immune system really low which basically means I can't meet people. My career depends on meeting new people and not being able to be social is putting me into pressure as to how am I going to manage for next 3 to 6 months. Jonathan can't work as he is my primary caregiver and we have a 4 years old daughter whom I can't take care of on my own. That leaves option of him getting any job at the moment. Our hospital is 2 hours away and we have to be there twice a week for couple months. So there is added cost to driving back and forth.
Thank you for everyone who made generous donations. I am forever grateful. I have each of your names written down in my notebook. This is just a bump on the road for me because if you know me well, you know I am going to come back stronger and give back to the community as I always have given.
