For the past four years, I have been living through one of the most painful experiences a parent can face—the struggle to maintain and rebuild my relationship with my children.
I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this, but I am reaching out because I need support navigating a complicated family court situation in Bradley County, Tennessee.
I am currently involved in two separate family court matters involving my two daughters. My oldest daughter’s case is in Juvenile Court. She is not my former husband’s biological child, and her case became uncertain after my former husband sought to terminate my parental rights and pursue adoption. My youngest daughter’s custody matter is being handled in Chancery Court.
For four years, I have experienced painful distance and separation from my children. The hardest part of this journey has been feeling the impact that this situation has had on the bond between my daughters and me. I believe the circumstances surrounding our separation and the ongoing family conflict have affected our relationship, and I am fighting for the opportunity to reconnect, heal, and continue being the loving and supportive mother they need.
After moving to a different town, my oldest daughter struggled with leaving behind her friends and the life she knew. I understand that change can be difficult for a child, and my greatest hope is that she knows my love for her has never changed. I want the opportunity to rebuild trust, strengthen our relationship, and be present in her life.
I have tried my best to navigate this process, but family court is complicated and overwhelming without legal representation. I requested a court-appointed attorney because I cannot afford private legal counsel, but I have been unable to obtain one. I am now representing myself while learning complicated procedures, preparing documents, meeting deadlines, gathering information, and trying to make sure my voice is heard.
My goal is not to create more conflict. My goal is to have a fair opportunity to present my case, protect my parental rights, and keep my children’s best interests at the center of these decisions.
The funds raised will help with:
• Attorney consultation and legal guidance — so I can better understand my rights, prepare my case, and make informed decisions.
• Court-related expenses — including filing costs, copies, records, and other necessary paperwork.
• Legal preparation — including organizing documents, evidence, and information needed for court.
• Transportation and related expenses — for hearings, appointments, and other requirements connected to my cases.
• Possible legal representation — if enough funds are raised to obtain an attorney for important parts of my case.
I am asking for help because every parent deserves a fair opportunity to be heard and to advocate for their children.
