It was snowing heavily and temperatures were in the low 30s. I was driving 20 miles under the 55 mph speed limit when, after coming around a small bend, my vehicle suddenly lost traction. I spun out, went into a ravine, and my car flipped over.
By the grace of God, I walked away without injuries and no one else was hurt. The driver behind me stopped and helped me call 911. As a first responder, my instinct even in that moment was to make sure the scene was safe. I had him move to a turnout down the road while we waited for CHP to arrive.
Unfortunately, my vehicle was insured with liability only, so there is no coverage for the loss. I still owe money on the car, and it is currently in a tow yard that I cannot afford to retrieve it from.
I work for the Fire Department doing fuels reduction, and due to winter weather my work hours have been significantly reduced. Living in a rural area, having reliable transportation is not optional — it’s essential for me to work and continue serving my community.
As difficult as it is for me to ask, I’m reaching out for help. I’ve spent much of my life serving others, and this is one of the few times I truly need support myself. I don’t have any family to help support me.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean more than I can express. Even sharing this page helps.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to give.
