The best mama and friend that I know recently got some heartbreaking news. Her breast cancer is back and has spread to her liver. The most we can hope for now is that they can slow the growth and spread, but there is no cure now. She is 37 (today) with a husband and 3 young daughters.
The remarkable thing is that Gretchen has carried on as a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, continuing to be the bedrock in all of our lives, despite grappling with some seriously difficult things.
She is a truly exceptional mom. I am not just saying that, because all moms are amazing and deal with poop and puke and tantrums and sleep deprivation. Gretchen always goes above and beyond to teach, to soothe, to laugh, to make the most of every day, and to give all of herself. And her girls adore her. Seriously, as one of my best friends, she makes me want to do better every day. #momgoals
I have been racking my brain for a way to help in a meaningful way. And maybe you have too!
Gretchen loves to spend time with her family outdoors. She goes on hikes and walks and loves to enjoy nature and sunshine with the people she loves. I think it would lift her spirits to see others doing the same, in her name.
Go outside with your family or with someone you love and snap a picture of you guys hiking/walking/jogging/skipping (whatever) and dedicate that stretch of road/path to Gretchen. Post the picture with the hashtag #thegretchstretch and tag her too.
Then please consider donating so that she has can have some awesome adventures. People always want to give care packages, and she only wants to raise money for charity, but I want her to have something just for her, for fun!

Please help me brighten her day, like she does every day for everyone she meets. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
