Hello, my name is Bernadette Monnott, and I’m an international student pursuing my degree in Veterinary Medicine. My journey to this point has been filled with hard work, determination, and an unshakable passion for caring for animals — but now, I’m facing a financial obstacle that could end my dream just before the finish line.
Since childhood, I’ve always had a deep connection with animals. Whether rescuing stray kittens, nursing injured birds back to health, or helping neighbors care for their pets, I’ve known that my calling was to dedicate my life to veterinary care. Studying in the Dominican Republic, Santiago has brought me one step closer to becoming the veterinarian I’ve always dreamed of being.
As an international student, my tuition fees are significantly higher, and unlike local students, I have limited access to financial aid, scholarships, or family support nearby. I have been working part-time and budgeting carefully, but recent unexpected expenses — combined with the rising cost of education — have left me struggling to cover my final tuition payments.
I am so close to graduating and making a real difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. Without your help, I may not be able to complete my last semester, and all the years of hard work and sacrifice could be lost.

Hola, mi nombre es Bernadette Monnott y soy una estudiante internacional cursando mi carrera de Medicina Veterinaria. Mi camino hasta aquí ha estado lleno de esfuerzo, determinación y una pasión inquebrantable por el cuidado de los animales; pero ahora me enfrento a un obstáculo financiero que podría poner fin a mi sueño justo antes de llegar a la meta.
Desde niña siempre he sentido una conexión profunda con los animales. Ya fuera rescatando gatitos callejeros, cuidando aves heridas o ayudando a mis vecinos con sus mascotas, siempre supe que mi vocación era dedicar mi vida al cuidado veterinario. Estudiar en Santiago, República Dominicana, me ha acercado un paso más a convertirme en la veterinaria que siempre soñé ser.
Como estudiante internacional, mis costos de matrícula son considerablemente más altos y, a diferencia de los estudiantes locales, tengo un acceso muy limitado a ayudas financieras, becas o apoyo familiar cercano. He trabajado medio tiempo y he administrado mi presupuesto con cuidado, pero gastos imprevistos recientes —sumados al aumento en el costo de la educación— me han dejado con dificultades para cubrir el pago de mi matrícula final.
Estoy muy cerca de graduarme y de poder marcar una verdadera diferencia en la vida de los animales y de las personas que los aman. Sin su ayuda, podría no lograr completar mi último semestre, y todos estos años de trabajo duro y sacrificio podrían perderse.
Su donación irá directamente destinada al pago de mi matrícula y a gastos académicos esenciales. Cada contribución, por pequeña que sea, me acerca un paso más a cruzar ese escenario, recibir mi título y devolver a la comunidad a través del cuidado veterinario, el rescate animal y la educación.
