At the end of 2022, my father faced severe health issues, leading to his hospitalization due to dangerously low blood pressure. A diagnosis soon followed, revealing Addison's disease, That he now had to combat along with his pre-existing diabetes condition. During this time, a foot injury developed into a foot ulcer, leading to a widespread infection and the onset of sepsis.
Despite the medical team's relentless efforts, the infection manifested aggressively, thus necessitating a series of surgeries. The first procedure aimed to cleanse the infected ulcer and eliminate the infection. When this approach failed, a second operation was essential, unfortunately resulting in the amputation of half his foot. Regrettably, still, the infection persisted, requiring a third surgery resulting in the amputation of his leg below the knee.
Once the grueling ordeal of prolonged hospitalization and three surgeries concluded, we welcomed him back home. During his hospital stay, we worked tirelessly to transform his house into a disability-friendly haven. Modifications entailed the installation of an access ramp, bathroom rails, enhanced door handles, and a wheelchair to assist with his mobility. We are still making modifications to his home as the need arises.
Today, we find ourselves facing an onslaught of medical bills. His insurance plan falls short of fully covering vitally needed prosthetic equipment, leaving my father responsible for a 20% share of hospital bills and his prosthetic's cost. As well as the cost for his monthly medication as insurance only covers 20% of those as well. This fundraiser seeks to alleviate the financial burden imposed by these medical expenses.
We aspire to recoup my father's mobility, and your generosity can make this possible. Let's help my father regain his independence. Your assistance, in any form, is deeply cherished and profoundly appreciated.
