CAROLYN AND TOM NEED A BREAK!
Our beautiful friend Carolyn had breast cancer back in 2015-2016 and went through some painful treatments to kick it. She was on the road to recovery, however in February 2022 they were dealt with a blow; her cancer had returned with a vengeance. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her bones, mainly her hips. Her latest scans also showed her cancer has progressed even more, into her spine, femur and skull. Carolyn has been on a strict, cancer fighting, healthy diet. She has been taking extreme care of her body and works at keeping her mind stress free. She does do some radiation to lesson the pain, but she is really kicking cancer’s butt with her extremely healthy choices!
My band Road Trip & I have created this fund-raiser for her and her ROCK THROUGH ALL OF THIS, her husband Tom. We are hoping we can raise enough money for both of them to be able to come with us on our TRIP TO HUALTUCO MEXICO Feb 25 – March 4, 2023. She told me she has made a bucket list and traveling is on it! Carolyn also said with all of the bad news, she needed some good news. Sadly, the doctors had no good news to give her, but we did! I recently visited her and asked her if she would like our band to start this fund raiser so she could go on our trip. Her eyes filled with tears and she squeaked out a YES! For anyone who does not know, our band Road Trip is going to Mexico annually to an all inclusive hotel and we bring our fans. We play on the beach, in bars, at the pool and we even have a church service one night on the beach! This is our 3rd trip and Tom & Carolyn have never been able to come with us.
If you have ever met Tom and Carolyn, you know what a sweet, fun couple they are. We played at their wedding in 2013 in their back yard.
They were the first people to hire our band, The Down Glow to play in their backyard as well. It was to celebrate Carolyn’s last breast cancer treatment and removing the port from her chest. Her husband Tom has helped me with carpentry work around the Road Trip house, with little to no charge at all! Tom and Carolyn have been supportive of all the local bands, especially Road Trip and Vic Ferrari. Now it is our turn to try to do something nice for them. They seriously need to get away to a place where they can wake up each morning in paradise and forget about the reality of this illness for a while.
The total cost of the trip is $4,900 for the two of them. This does not include the expenses caused by leaving home for a week. I’m setting the goal at $5000 to help pay odds and ends to pull this off.
