Winston is going in for his big surgery in just under a month.
Winston is my first kitty and holds such a special place in my heart. His special brand of sweet affection and companionship has been a light in my life that has kept me going through the worst of it. Now it's my turn to repay that favor back to him.
August of 2025 I discovered a lump had formed on Winston's rear right paw. The initial test sample came back concerning, so he had his first trip to the OR to have the lump removed and tested further. These tests determined he had developed a Soft Tissue Sarcoma, and also that the initial surgery was unable to fully remove the proper margins to assure regrowth would be stopped.
Winston healed up wonderfully from this first procedure, and monitoring continued as life went back to normal. Until just after Thanksgiving when a routine inspection found a small lump forming again on the healed incision site. This was absolutely devastating to find at all, let alone so soon after the initial surgery.
The next step, and closest thing we have to a garentee of stopping it, is amputation of the leg. This was a very hard decision but I know my Little Buddy will learn to live with these changes, however it's going to be a very tough ride for a bit.
If the next couple tests go well, and the surgery can be funded in time, Winston is scheduled for January 21st for the removal of his entire rear right leg. Affording the vet bills up to this point has already been a struggle for me, and this surgery is going to take a significant amount of time, special care, and changes around the house to ensure he adapts as well as possible. If anyone is fully, and comfortably able to help in any way at all, it would be more than appreciated by me and my sweet Orange Boy. Thank you all.
