Our Ossip Family is committed to being a vision leader in the communities that we serve. Ossip is proud supporter and the Community Captain of the 11th annual Indianapolis Vision Walk, which raises funds for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. By funding leading edge research in areas such as genetics, gene therapy, transplantation, artificial retinal implants and pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies, the Foundation Fighting Blindness is making a difference today to make the world a brighter place for those suffering with retinal degenerative diseases.
More than 10 million Americans are affected by blinding retinal diseases including macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and Usher syndrome. Most people know someone who has or has had a visual impairment of some kind. For Ossip, it hits extremely close to home. Holly Hart, General Manager of Ossip Camby, was diagnosed with Stargardt disease 5 years ago. Stargardt’s is a juvenile form of macular degeneration. The research and development of treatments that Foundation Fighting Blindness funds will someday be available to Holly and could potentially lead to a cure.
