I AM Julie A. Cipolla. And, I've been Homeless for some time now, virtually since I left Brooklyn, December 10th of last year (2022). because I can't afford the "Market rents." No one can, who is of average income.

I lost my apartment of FORTY (40) YEARS, because I was systematically Terrorized for almost 4 YEARS, out of my 1-room apartment by someone the Landlord likely hired and installed to terrify me out of it, so they could get more rent or sell my apartment (which btw) is being "warehoused", neither sold nor rented.

This was done simply because I was paying a lower rent than the Landlord liked. And, apparently, Brooklyn isn't the only place that Landlords are doing this - "installing" criminal types to live next door to their victims in order to scare them to move. I've seen it Iowa where I also lived in 3 different cities! ALL, so the Landlords can increase the rents. It's happening all around the country.

I am, in fact, the 5th of my circle of friends around Park Slope, Brooklyn alone, to have this happen to us. My friends and I, who've been chased out of our apartments, after paying rent dutifully for decades, all "older" people, had hoped (not unreasonably) that we could hold onto the control we'd ALWAYS had over our own lives, like any normal person.

I'm currently living on Social Security, in an Emergency Shelter in Albany, NY., (which, by the way,) they want to take 90% of my income to pay for the priviledge, starting  in February. I'm not asking for $ for a place to stay, because I may shortly be moving into the "YWCA" in Troy, New York. Nor am I asking for $ for food or clothing.

But, you ALL know me as a Writer, (at least my friends do). Check out my 1st Book: "Today I See the Sunrise: Daily Meditations for Survivors of Torture and Abuse." (Balboa Press 2016). You can also find it on Amazon.com.

MY need, NOW (Desperately!) is for a GOOD NEW Laptop of my own choosing, that will allow me to dictate into it accurately at any time of day or night, the thoughts about the experiences I am having right now. Plus the insurance to cover its possible theft or damage. (I've had TWO laptops stolen in the last year!

Writing or typing by hand, simply is too slow, and with dictating, I can write about 8 thousand words in about an hour!

I've begun writing a series of articles to be published soon, which hopefully will culminate in a Book. This Book will combine an "Instructional Manual" for how to survive Homelessness for the individual (i.e., all the "dirty little secrets" that came as a VERY UNwelcome wake-up call to me as a Neophyte!) As well as how one can even thrive under such conditions! Plus, the Book will hopefully educate the rest of us in perhaps how to prevent becoming homeless ourselves.

AND, even more importantly, it will address how we can work effectively together to change conditions in America and around the World, so Homelessness CAN'T happen to anyone ever Again!

11 Million Homeless in America, and 100 Million persons Homeless around the World, can't ALL be "crackpots", criminals and addicts? Thete's something wrong with the System. Join me to help FIX it!

Won't you help me complete this very important project by contributing to my Laptop fund?

THANK YOU AND BLESS YOU ALL MY FRIENDS, AND ALL the new friends I haven't even met yet! Bless You!

I'm just so grateful because I have just been accepted at Empire State College, SUNY, and I'll be starting classes in January 2025, the Spring Semester. I will likely be finishing my undergraduate degree, not in  psychology, but in marketing!! It's very exciting for me!

Incidentally, I'm living in a beautiful building, in Mechanicville, NY, with other older people and folks like me with disabilities. The folks here are GREAT to me, and, from THAT standpoint, I feel like I HAVE ARRIVED!!! The building is so well kept up - such a pleasure!!! Sounds funny, but, by the Grace of God, whom I DON'T understand, I'm starting to put the different pieces of the different eras of my life together and make some kind of sense or coherent narrative of it. I feel now, an amazing and Sacred Meaning and Purpose, to ALL that has happened to me good and bad!!! A sense of Worth and Value, such as I have never felt before . . . ! A long time in the coming and I finally feel I deserve it because I have worked very hard in cooperation with this Marvelous Power that created me and that I can't define. More shall be revealed, and Thank You ALL! For supporting me, Always!

Hi Everyone! It is with a very Thankful Heart that I am now delighted to share that I am living in my own wonderful 1 BEDROOM APT!!!!! I signed the lease the 1st of March, 2024. My rent is subsidized in a really well-maintained building in Upstate New York. It is so Beautiful, here, and I am so lucky! I happen to be living right adjacent to the Hudson River!!!

All of my experiences of the last 14 months can now be documented on the brand-new LAPTOP that I am going to be able to buy next week! And that is in no small part, thanks to your direct help!

What you ACTUALLY did, was to help me survive long enough to be able to sign the new lease on the apartment.

It became clear, that a subsidized apt was rapidly opening up for me due to my age, (above 62) in early- to mid- February, 2024. However, my health was beginning to deteriorate rapidly and on the night of February 25th, I almost died of exposure. EMS was called and I had to spend some time in the ER. (You'll read more about this in my forthcoming Book.)

The main thing is I survived, (thank God!), with "a little help from my friends!" Now, the Laptop I will be buying this week, will allow me to dictate about 8,000 words an hour. There's so much to share - so much I've learned from my odyssey through homelessness about how to be a better person. And I owe it in great part to your support!

Feel Safe, feel Loved and feel Happy! For you are so Worthy!

WELL, Thanks to you all, and my God, after almost 15 months from having to leave my home of 40 years in  Brooklyn, NY, I have survived Homelessness!!!!!

However, in order to do that, I've had to use the funds you gave me for the laptop, to survive the last 6 nights before mercifully being able to sign the Lease for my new apt, just a week ago!!!

If you had not donated, I would have LOST MY LIFE during those last few crucial days due to unavoidable exposure to below freezing temps!!! As it was, I had to be brought by ambulance to hospital where I recovered rapidly. And, thank God, and you all, I HAVE survived!!!

In the interim, while still out there, I'd already begun working on 2 new projects:

1. A series of booklets/pamphlets on how to help oneself if in the untenable position of experiencing Homelessness; and

2. The (main) Book I mentioned, a memoir concerning my own experiences with being Homeless; and, what the public, the government and private relief organizations can do to help that actually works, (and what doesn't).

I WANT TO THANK MY GOD, AND EACH OF YOU WHO DONATED TO MY FUND, AND, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU LET ME RAMBLE ON ABOUT THIS PROJECT!!! YOUR KINDNESS AND GENOROSITY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!! (Now I truly KNOW what it means to be "humbled" by the Power of Others' Love and God's LOVE.

Amen!

Warmly,

Julie A. Cipolla (718) 290-3660 EST
