It has been a long and hard three and a half years for Robbie and his family. He has had numerous surgeries and procedures related to his ear before being diagnosed in February with basal cell carcinoma with perineural invasion of his right ear. Soon after that, he had Mohs surgery to remove more of his ear and tissue. For two months they proceeded to reconstruct the ear, and in May, Robbie began radiation for six weeks.
After completing the radiation therapy, Robbie returned to work at the firehouse before having a stroke two weeks later on Friday, August 6, 2021. For 16 years, he has worked tirelessly as a fireman with various roles and titles such as Firefighter/EMT, Fire Captain, and currently Fire Chief at Corteva Fire.
Robbie has been married for 20 years and they have four wonderful children. He enjoys attending sporting and musical events for his kids, and he has a love of the mountains, beach and offshore fishing.
Robbie believes “If you want something, don’t wish for it. Life is too short to wait.” The trials his family has endured has taught them many lessons in living your best life...right now!
Robbie is currently out of work due to his health issues and is in and out of therapy each day. It is a long road to recovery and every little bit will help his sweet family get through these trying times.
