Lucas Chappell began his journey in Surry County Schools at Westfield Elementary School before moving on to Pilot Mountain Middle School and eventually becoming an East Surry High School Cardinal. Known for his big heart and infectious smile, Lucas has always had a way of bringing joy to those around him—there’s never a dull moment when he’s in the room.
By 8th grade, Lucas was already ahead in his studies, working on high school-level coursework. Once at East Surry, he continued to challenge himself by taking honors classes every year. But academics weren’t his only focus—football quickly became his passion.
Even though he had never played before, Lucas begged his parents to let him join the football team in 8th grade. That determination paid off. By 10th grade, he was already playing on the varsity team, proudly wearing #56 on the defensive line. Lucas devoted his summers to football camps, constantly working to improve his skills. His dedication was recognized this year when he was named an All-Conference Player for his senior season.
After graduation, Lucas will attend Bridgewater College, where he will continue his football career while majoring in Business. His dream? To one day play in the NFL—and with his drive, heart, and compassion, there’s no doubt Lucas will go far.
But in order for Lucas to go to college after fassa and federal grant help, it still leaves him oweing $10,000.00 each year of the 4 years he will attend, to come this far and have a road block crushes everything he has worked and lived for. Please help and make his dreams come true.
