Hello friends, family and kind hearts. Asking for help is incredibly difficult for me to do. As the sole provider for my family right now, I have reached a point where I cannot carry this financial burden alone.
Many of you know my husbands story. In 2020, he went through a life-changing amputation. He fought incredibly hard to recover, got fitted with his prosthetic, and by 2022, he was back to work. For the last 4 years, he has worked tirelessly to help support our family.
Unfortunately, we are now facing a new and very serious medical crisis. His remaining "good" leg- his left leg- has developed sever ulcers. His circulation has gotten so poor that his foot turns blue if he sits or stands for too long. He has been under the strict care of wound are specialists for the last 5 going on 6 weeks now. To prevent him from having to undergo a second amputation, his wound care team has officially issed a strict "stop work order" and taken him off the job.
While he is completely sidelined to heal his leg and save his leg, our household has suddenly been cut down to just my income. Because he cannot return to work, we are beginning the long process of applying for his disability- but as we all know, that system takes months, if not years, to provide actual help.
The financial strain has already hit us hard- we have already had to make the incredibly painful decision to let one of our vehicles go back because we simply can not afford the payments on both. Between the daily living and traveling to his constant medical appointments, one income isn't enough. On top of managing this medical crisis, we also have a 13 year old at home. Keeping her life and home stable though all of this is my absolute top priority .
Why I Am Asking for Help, I am starting this fundraiser to help me keep our household running and stable during this gap. Every single dollar raised will go directly to me to help cover our basic survival needs so we don't lose our home, fall hopelessly behind, or let this crisis disrupt our teens life. Keeping our housing, utilities, and insurance current so we all have a roof over our heads.
Groceries and everyday household essentials for our family. Fuel and transportation so we can keep our remaining vehicle running, ensuring I can get to and from work every day to bring in our only income, and that we can get him to his critical wound care specialist visits.
