Help Her Get Back on the Road
Sometimes the people who spend their lives helping everyone else are the ones who need a helping hand.
We are asking for your support for a very giving woman whose dependable vehicle has unexpectedly become a major problem. Her longtime car’s engine has died, leaving her without the reliable transportation she desperately needs—not only for herself, but for the many people who depend on her every day.
She cares for her mother and stepfather, taking them to medical appointments, picking up prescriptions, grocery shopping, and helping with the many everyday errands that become difficult without a vehicle.
Twice a week, she drives numerous miles around the city picking up and delivering food to help others. She has quietly dedicated her time to helping others for years, asking for little or nothing in return.
For more than 20 years, she has also served as a non-paid Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children and giving her time to help make a difference in their lives.
And despite everything she does for others, she still makes time for something that brings her joy: singing. She is a member of Charleston's Gospel Choir, traveling approximately an hour each way for rehearsals during concert season. Music is one of the things that gives her an opportunity to recharge and enjoy life after spending so much of her time caring for others.
Her only income is a monthly disability check, which is enough to cover basic necessities but leaves very little available for an unexpected expense as significant as replacing an engine—or purchasing another dependable vehicle.
That is why we are asking for your help.
We would love to help her obtain a safe, dependable used vehicle that will allow her to continue caring for her family, helping her community, transporting those who rely on her, fulfilling her commitments, and simply getting where she needs to go without constantly worrying about whether her car will make it.
