What is this about: We are needing funds to expand our Banned Book selection and MOVE!
Breakdown of funds: We need $30,000.00 total We order books thru a few small distributors and independent publishing houses. We are looking at $12,000.00 worth of book inventory. We need 4 library style bookcases at $3,089.00 each. The last $6,000.00 is needed for operation costs, taxes, and on hand funds for restock and to move.
Our story is below.
Romarin et Corbeaux is a community of communities housed in a metaphysical bookshop. We are located in Oxford, Alabama currently but will moving to back to Anniston. We provide resources and hold space for all. We hold space for all religions and provide meeting spaces for them, be it Christian Book clubs, Intro to Buddhism meetings, or Pagan workshops and meet ups. We hold space for our Veterans, our LGBTQIA+ family and friends, and our Black and other people of color communities. Being all inclusive and located where we are, we do run into some hardships and friction.
We are up against book banning in our school districts and public spaces. We strive to be able to provide resources and books that are currently banned to our communities. To do this quickly we are in need of funds to kick this off. These funds will go to quickly expanding our banned books sections, our children sections, as well as equipment and furniture to grow our bookshop to meet the increasing needs of our communities. It is up to us to provide these resources and hold space for those that are marginalized and oppressed.
