As most of you know, the last several years have brought more than their share of challenges. Unfortunately, I’ve now been dealt another very serious one.
I have been diagnosed with severe heart failure after suffering two heart attacks. I now have to wear a portable defibrillator at all times while my doctors work to stabilize my heart and determine what comes next. I’ll admit, wearing it feels a little like carrying around an ’80s fanny pack full of quarters — but I’m very grateful to have it.
The hardest part financially is that I haven’t been able to work for the past month and am now on disability. Losing my income so suddenly has left me falling behind on basic expenses, including my mortgage, utilities, vehicle registration and other essential bills.
I’m asking for help getting through this period while I recover and adjust to what life with heart failure is going to look like. Donations will go toward keeping my housing and essential bills current while my income is reduced.
