My name is Marlee. I am MtF transgender and I finally have the opportunity to proceed with some of the necessary procedures to further progress in my transition.
I began my transition in 2014, absolutely terrified, but hopeful. Over the following 3 years, in 2017, I worked towards presenting female full-time, and had my name and gender marker changed. At the end of 2017 I decided to uproot my life and move to Michigan where I thought i'd be able to further my transition and finally become comfortable in my own skin. That part of my journey was short lived, but I came back to Texas with a clear mind and definitive goals. Since then I have been working on saving money, while also working on smaller procedures (laser hair removal, electrolysis). Now, finally, I have the opportunity to really progress in my transition and be comfortable in my skin and be happy!
If I am able to come up with the $17,640, or even just a portion of it, it would allow me to proceed with the following procedures:
- Orchiectomy ($2,000)
- Rhinoplasty ($5,200)
- Tracheal Shave ($2,000)
- Chin Contouring ($12,000)
(If all done together the cost with a 5% discount is $20,140)
I have always been very defiant when it comes to accepting help from others, especially in the case of my transition. It is my burden, and I don't want others to feel like it is somehow theirs too; so I have been handling all aspects of my transition completely out of pocket.
Until now, I swore to never set up any kind of crowdfunding for help, but being this close to happiness I feel like i'd be making a huge mistake if I did not.
My current funds
The overall cost will be $20,140. Right now I have roughly $2,500 in cash, $6,500 available via Care Credit, and I was approved for the full $17,640 through United Medical Credit. I would prefer to not take out a loan, atleast not a loan this big.
