Hi friends. Erin here. This is my last ditch effort to try and get me through the next month. Some background as to why I'm asking for help:
The night of October 11th my car decided to crap out, something happened with a piece connected to the transmission and it was rendered undrivable. Never had any issues with this car before, so it was very unexpected. My primary source of income right now is cleaning houses, I have lots of equipment that I have to carry with me, making it necessary to have convenient and reliable transportation. Ubering is simply out of my budget.
This repair put me out of work for two weeks, which is a huge portion of income I was without. $500 later, I got my car back, but the next day the check engine light came on. Took it back to my mechanic. They hadn't originally seen that something was wrong with the transmission itself, and it turns out I have to replace the whole thing which will run me over $3,000, and it will be in the shop at least a couple more weeks. I have filed a claim with insurance, so that will be accounted for, as well as renting a car.
It was all going to be taken care of, but now, as of the morning of October 29th, I've tested positive for COVID. Which is wild because I'd only gone back to work three days prior, and I hadn't been anywhere else besides one trip to the grocery store. So, unless I want to risk contaminating others, I will be without work for the duration of this infection.
I'm having some rotten luck this month, and out of desperation I am making this fundraiser for myself. I've tried applying for government assistance, but from what I can find, I don't qualify for the assistance I'm looking for. I am already low-income and dealing with some heavy mental health troubles on top of it all.
The goal I set is completely arbitrary, I would just like to ask for any financial assistance my friends are willing to offer. The money will go towards rent, bills, and food, just the basics. This is definitely a blow to my ego, but I gotta do what I gotta do. I would love to repay your kindness in whatever manner I can, whether it's freshly baked cookies, a personalized painting, help moving, whatever it might be, please let me know.
