I was already homeless before all this, living in a car, delivering for Uber Eats and writing a monthly column for a local news magazine. On February 24th I collapsed, due to respiratory and heart failure that has led to months of hospitalization. I never saw it coming. I'm out of the woods, now, I guess, with an implanted defibrillator, but must re-learn to talk after the tracheostomy. I was sedated and in bed so long I'm just beginning to walk again. When I'm discharged, it'll be be back to the car, with nothing. No income, no place to stay, no place to shower.
Even my belongings are gone, EVERYTHING stolen by someone I trusted. I may need a walker -- at least a cane. A gym membership to get back in shape and stay health in the winter months would be helpful. My dream is a cargo van where I can live and sleep safely and feel almost normal. Raising that much is unlikely, but please help if you can, it would mean the world to me.
