Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
I am reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for your support during an incredibly difficult and life-altering time. My mother, Shirley, has been diagnosed with Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), a severe form of Stephens Johnson syndrome which is a rare and life-threatening skin condition that has left her in a critical condition.
TEN is a severe reaction that causes the skin to burn, blister, and peel off, and it often impacts the mucous membranes, leading to immense pain, infection risk, and potentially life-threatening complications. My mom was just recently moved from ICU to an ICU Step-down unit. She is suffering immense pain and it so painful to watch her go through this. I really want her to focus on getting better and not worry about how her bills will get paid.
Since her diagnosis, my mother has been fighting for her life, enduring unbearable pain, and receiving round-the-clock care. This rare and aggressive condition has required ICU care, many, many tests, medications and surgery, which are crucial to her survival but come at an astronomical cost. The emotional and physical toll on my mother and our family has been overwhelming, and the financial burden is mounting.
We are doing everything we can to ensure she receives the best care possible, but the expenses for her treatment, medications, and hospital stays are far beyond what we can manage alone. The costs of ICU care, specialized medications, skin grafts, ongoing rehabilitation, and many other things that I am not even aware of at the moment are piling up quickly.
We are humbly asking for your help. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward my mother's medical care and give her a fighting chance to recover. Even if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us.
We know this is an incredibly difficult time for everyone, and we deeply appreciate the love, prayers, and support we’ve already received. Your generosity and compassion give us hope as we navigate this unimaginable situation.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and for helping us fight for my mother’s life.
With love and gratitude,
Brianna
