When Levi was born, he had to get one kidney removed and he was able to live with the remaining kidney up until almost three years ago when he started dialysis at the age of 21. Since then, it has been a huge struggle for him to live normally. He does dialysis 3 days a week for 4 hours each session which makes him very weak and tired. If he misses even one day, he usually ends up back in the hospital having to recover from too much fluid or potassium in his system which could be lethal to him. His kidney failure limits him from living like a normal young adult and he is at the point where he is more just surviving rather than actually living his life. Not only is he suffering from kidney failure but he has had multiple seizures and continuously breaks his bones due to the side effects of his condition (dialysis and his diet restrictions make his body very weak and frail; and kidney failure is what caused the conditions in his body for the seizures to happen). Levi had to stop working because of his condition but he still tried to go to school although it was hard and he almost had to stop because of constant hospital visits that affected his attendance. Right now, he is recovering from a broken hand and knee which he broke from getting tripped by his dog. He wants to be able to recover and live normally without worrying about dialysis or getting hurt from every little thing. He is in the process of a kidney transplant at Mount Sinai, which will help him to start living a more normal life. The transplant hospital that he is working with is in New York and he lives in Tennessee. His insurance does not cover flights or hotels and the transplant itself will have out-of-pocket costs. Throughout this process, he would like assistance in the uncovered costs so that there will be one less thing to worry about in his health journey.
