It physically PAINS me to ask for help, but I am going to be out of work for 6 - 8 weeks.

I am the primary source of income for my family and I am needing an emergent procedure in the next few days.

In a weird twist,  I inadvertently caused the injury and subsequent infection that is causing this emergent surgery.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in February and I have been walking to decrease weight gain and increase my physical activity.  I developed a blister of the middle toe on my right foot, and even though I was caring for the blister as directed by my doctor, the infection was hiding under a callus, and traveled to the bone and it has begun to kill the tissue of my toe, so the surgeon is going to amputate it in the next 48 hours. I am hopeful that the infection has not spread further into my foot, and more surgery is not needed.

The funds will help with transportation (I will not be able to drive),  co pays for physical therapy, rent / utilities, and food.

I know that times are difficult for all of us, but any funds that you could spare will help cushion this catastrophic event.

I am slowly healing, bit have suffered a setback. The incision on my right middle toe has dehisced (parts of the wound edges have separated and some of the underlying tissue is exposed) and I am taking another 10 day course of antibiotics to stave off another infection.

I am awaiting word on whether or not I will be approved for teleworking, but this process requires my request be approved by several levels of leadership.

Thank you all for the love, support, well wishes, donations and prayers.

The good news is that the osteomyelitis wasn't as pervasive as initially thought.

The not so good news is that I have to continue on antibiotics,  for another infection that was discovered.

I am home! I was released from the hospital on Saturday and I have been sleeping almost constantly because of my lack of sleep in the hospital!

I do have pain in my right foot and leg, and I am able to walk short distances before I get tired.  The pain is tolerable with medication and I hope that I can begin my recovery fully by starting to walk independently again soon.
