Update on Jasper & Our Family as of November 29th:

Thank you to everyone who has supported Jasper through his lymphoma diagnosis and treatment. We're happy to share that he's been handling his oral chemo (prednisone and chlorambucil) really well and is back to his happy, energetic self! We're feeling hopeful that we'll get at least 6-12 great months with him - and maybe he'll even beat those odds.

Any funds raised here will continue to go toward Jasper's ongoing chemotherapy and steroid treatments, which he'll need for the foreseeable future.

An additional challenge: Our other dog, Onyx (10.5-year-old lab/pit mix), is facing an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma that requires leg amputation surgery this Tuesday, December 2nd. We've been managing two cancer diagnoses simultaneously, and while it's been overwhelming, we're doing everything we can to give both our boys the best possible care.

We've created a separate GoFundMe for Onyx's surgery and aftercare: https://gofundme.com/savingonyx

We've also started an Amazon wishlist if anyone prefers to donate supplies directly (post-surgery recovery items, medications, etc.): Amazon Wishlist for Jasper and Onyx

We're incredibly grateful for any support - whether it's here for Jasper, on Onyx's GoFundMe, through the wishlist, or simply through your kind words and encouragement. Thank you for being part of our pack's journey. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

October 25th 2025:

Hey everyone,

We donโ€™t usually do things like this, but we could really use some help as the last two months have been financially burdensome due to taking care of our dogs.

Our younger dog Jasper (5.5 years old) was hospitalized on Friday for Kidney failure. They'll be keeping him for 3 days doing IV therapy and monitoring him. The emergency vet visit plus blood work was $480 plus the 3 days of treatment is estimating to be $1600. We'll know more by Monday if he needs ongoing care or if more testing needs to be done. We just recently went thru an extended recovery with our other dog Onyx (10.5 years old) about a month ago when he had his second lipoma removal surgery in 2 years, which racked up another $2300 just last month. From missed work, vet bills, and the emotional stress its all adding up.

Jasperโ€™s always been that happy, loyal goof who makes every bad day better. Seeing him sick has been rough. Onyx is the tough one, the protector, but even heโ€™s had a hard time recently. Weโ€™re just trying to provide for our babies and get them the best care.

These costs have hit hard, and weโ€™re doing everything we can, but itโ€™s more than we can manage alone. Any help... donations, shares, or even just good thoughts... it all means a whole whole lot.

If you want to chip in or share, please do so. If not, it's alright.ย  You can donate here through spot fund or venmo Kaycee directly @kaycee-roseย

Thanks for reading and caring about us and our boys. It really means the world.

Update on the Boys:

Onyx got his stitches out today and Dr. Richardson said he's looking great! He's comfortable, still in good spirits, and we're managing his pain well. Before I could catch him he jumped on the waiting room bench at the vet like nothings changed. Still trying to limit him from doing too much too soon, but he's doing wonderful overall!

We got Jasper's one-month bloodwork results back, and overall they look good! His kidney values have continued to improve (SDMA is now down to 11, almost normal!), his anemia is completely resolved, and he's tolerating the chemo beautifully. He has great energy, good appetite, and is acting like his normal self.

The only thing that came up is his liver enzymes are elevated, which can happen when the liver is working hard to process all the medications. The good news is he has no symptoms and feels great - this is just something we caught on bloodwork. We'll be starting him on Denamarin tomorrow, which is a liver support supplement that will help protect his liver while he continues his lymphoma treatment.

He'll have another recheck in about a month to make sure everything is trending in the right direction. Overall, he's doing amazing and we're so grateful for the extra time this treatment is giving us.

Between both dogs, the ongoing care continues to add up, but I'm so thankful for the excellent care they're receiving at Myrtle Avenue Veterinary Hospital and that they're getting back to a quality of life.

The GoFundMe and Spotfund will continue to stay active to help with their ongoing care (steriods, chemo, liver supplements, pain meds, bloodwork, etc.) and to recoup the costs we've already spent (>$9,000 since Sept). Any support is appreciated, but as always, your love and encouragement mean just as much.

Jasper update ๐Ÿ•: He's still doing great with his chemo treatments! He'll be going back in for his one-month blood work when Onyx goes in to get his sutures out in about a week and a half.

Onyx update: Day 3 Post-Op Update ๐Ÿพ

Onyx had his front leg amputation on Tuesday afternoon at Myrtle Avenue Vet and came home the same night. The surgery went well. They completely removed the lower half of his arm where the soft tissue sarcoma was located, ensuring there's no chance of the cancer returning at that site. They kept the upper portion of his arm so we can explore prosthetic options down the road if needed.

I'm not going to lie, the first night was incredibly hard to witness. He whimpered almost all night, and any movement caused him to cry out. I think a lot of it was the anesthesia wearing off, because by morning once his pain meds were doing their job, he settled into recovery mode.

He's been eating and drinking well, which has been such a relief. Yesterday (day 2) he actually got up twice on his own to go outside to potty. It's a good distance from one side of the house to the other, and he made it mostly on his own with just a couple short breaks. It's amazing to see him pick up moving on three legs so quickly!

We're at the start of day 3 post-op now. We'll likely take his bandages off this evening and otherwise just continue keeping him comfortable. I've already invested in a support harness and a ramp for the car to help him through recovery.

The reality, it's been overwhelming. I haven't slept through the night in two nights, juggling medication schedules for both dogs, cleaning up messes, and trying to take care of myself. I'm so thankful I'm off work right now because it's A LOT - but it's worth it because Onyx and Jasper are here and continuing to show signs of improvement.

We're not out of the woods yet. Both boys have ongoing care needs, and we still have our fundraising pages open to help cover continued medications, vet visits, and recovery supplies:

๐Ÿ’š Amazon Wishlist (if you prefer to purchase supplies directly): https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/D1OX3WEH9FWC?ref_=wl_share

Please send us your strength to get through this and positive vibes to keep a healing environment for both my boys as they continue their cancer journeys. Thank you for the continuing support and check-ins - it means more than you know. ๐Ÿ’™

Update on Jasper and Onyx - November 4, 2025

On Tuesday, I took both Jasper and Onyx in for check-ups and received devastating news that I've been processing before I could share.

**Jasper's Diagnosis:**

Jasper has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Unfortunately, chemotherapy would require not only the treatment costs but traveling 4+ hours one way multiple times throughout the treatment process, which makes it financially and logistically impossible for us. We'll be keeping him comfortable on steroids, which should give us 1-3 more quality months together. Right now, he's eating well, has good energy, and is still very much himself. I'm cherishing every moment.

**Onyx's Condition:**

Onyx's soft tissue sarcoma that was removed two months ago is recurring more aggressively and is now affecting his ability to bear weight on his front leg. If enough funds can be raised to offset the costs, I would explore treatment options for him:

- **Torigen Cancer Vaccine:** $2,300 - A newer immunotherapy vaccine that has shown positive results for soft tissue sarcoma reduction

- **Leg Amputation with Recovery Care:** $3,000+ - Would remove the tumor completely and dogs adapt remarkably well to three legs

Without additional funding, we'll focus on pain management and keeping him comfortable for as long as possible.

**Where We Stand:**

I've already spent over $4,000 on their care in the last two months. Any donations will help offset these costs and, if enough comes in, potentially give Onyx a fighting chance at treatment. If we can't reach treatment-level funding, all donations will go toward continued care and eventual end-of-life costs for both boys.

I know times are hard for everyone right now. Your love, support, and caring thoughts mean just as much as any financial contribution.

Thank you to everyone who has loved Jasper and Onyx over the years. They are so incredibly lucky to have had so many people care about them, and so am I. I'm committed to giving them the best quality of life possible for whatever time we have left together.

Thank you for being here with us through this journey. โค๏ธ
