Hi, my name is Bryson, and I’m 14 years old.
I really love Vacation Bible School. I’ve been helping with VBS for years, and it’s one of my favorite things. I love the music, the people, and just being there. One year after VBS ended, I actually cried because I didn’t want it to be over. It just means that much to me.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been able to help more. Now I volunteer with the preschool classes and help teach Bible lessons, which I really enjoy. But my favorite part is getting ready for VBS. I love the weeks and months leading up to it—planning, building, and creating decorations. I even start thinking about the next year’s theme before the current one is over.
I usually use my allowance, Christmas money, and anything I’ve saved to buy supplies so I can make decorations for VBS. This year, I wanted to do something bigger and more “epic,” so I decided to make a nativity scene that I could auction off.
I spent a lot of time working on it—days and weeks building it, using recycled materials, and making all the details like the barn, animals, and people. I really wanted it to be something special.
Instead of using the money for myself, I wanted to raise money to help buy supplies for VBS decorations this year. I just want to help make it a fun and special experience for other kids, like it has been for me.

As Bryson’s mom, I can honestly say this comes straight from his heart. VBS has always been something he looks forward to all year long, and watching him pour his time, creativity, and even his own money into making it special for other kids has been such a gift.
This nativity is a reflection of who he is—thoughtful, generous, and full of joy in serving others. I’m incredibly proud of him, not just for what he created, but for why he created it.
