Liza is a young mom, who, with her husband and two small children, live in central Ukraine. Dave and I met Liza about twelve years ago when she was working in Yellowstone and have kept in touch periodically through the years since. We've seen her, through Facebook, get married and have a family.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we started talking a bit more. She, like many Ukranians, hoped and prayed that this war would not last too long. One of her messages said that she "was helping with defense and refugees" during the day as much as she could. Since then, her husband has been conscripted into the Ukranian army. Now, she is afraid for herself and her children because the shelling is getting too close to her home. The local airport was bombed and many were killed there. There is no food, no work, and no money.
Liza has a plan to leave Ukraine, and go on to Germany through Poland. She has a friend who will house her and her children for a few days in Germany until they put together a plan for "what's next."
Will you help us help her?
Dave and would like to to raise enough money to get her into Europe, on to her destination, and then for the "what's next." We honestly don't know how much she will need, but every little bit will help.
Thank you so much.
