Hey everybody! After more than 25 years as a public school, 6th-grade teacher, my mom – Kathy – is retiring!
To commemorate her work and service, my siblings and I are starting a scholarship in her name: The Kathy Schwigan Education Scholarship. Each year, a student will receive at least $500 to pursue a four-year degree in education.
I've already given $500 to start this fund, but would be ecstatic to raise another $500 to ensure the scholarship starts off on strong footing. Plus, it would be a wonderful surprise for my mom to see we've raised more than $1,000 in her name!
Thanks for chipping in $10, $20 or whatever you can spare to help honor my mom and her work that has benefitted hundreds of students in Maine.
*A couple notes: 1. Donations will go to me and I will cut a check to the Brewer School Department, which is the keeper of the scholarships! I'll follow up with an update when this has been completed.
2. This is a SURPRISE. So if you know either of my parents -- hush, hush. please. :-)
