My name is Ashraf Abdelal, I am 23 years old and I live with my family. We had a large and very beautiful home. I am currently working in Gaza to convey the truth as a journalist. I am married. I love living with dignity.
Before the war, I was a university student studying Journalism and Media at Al-Quds Open University in Gaza. I loved traveling and meeting people from around the world. As a journalist, my dream was to visit every country, and I was working hard to achieve that. I lived a very enjoyable and wonderful life before the war. I had several sources of income — I owned a large supermarket with an excellent income, I also worked as a freelancer in photography, and sometimes I worked as an accountant for some companies. I owned a car and a motorcycle, and I used to travel outside Palestine for work and to connect with the world. I always strive to be a recognized figure globally.
Now, all of this has become just a dream. I have nothing left in Gaza. My house was completely bombed, I lost my motorcycle, I lost my sister who became a martyr, I lost many relatives and friends. My supermarket, my source of income, was destroyed. Everything was wiped out because of the devastating war on Gaza.
I completed my studies online, because everything stopped and my university was completely bombed. Despite displacement, killing, fear, and food shortages, I worked hard to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism during the war in Gaza — and thank Allah, I graduated with a good GPA I’m proud of it.
It has been more than 2 years since the war began, and I have never needed anyone’s financial help before. I was living off my savings, but the war dragged on for so long. Therefore, my money eventually ran out. Now, I have nothing left to even buy the basics I need to survive, especially now in winter, when rent and living costs are very high. That’s why I launched this campaign, and I trust you will not leave the Palestinian journalist Ashraf alone. Your help is needed more than ever.
I hope you can support me as much as possible so I can continue bringing you the truth inside Gaza — and so I don’t die from hunger.
To the world: I love those who appreciate me, support me, and stand by my side.
If you have read this far, thank you, my dear.
Do not leave this campaign without helping me. I love you all.
