On Saturday, May, 10th Alex Martynenko, just 36 years old, tragically lost his life in a climbing accident in Okanogan County, WA.
Alex was one of three climbers who fell during an ascent near Leahy. According to this news report, the tragedy may have been the result of equipment failure, though the investigation is still ongoing.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Olga Martynenko and their 5-year-old son, who are devastated by this sudden and heartbreaking loss.
Alex was full of life - strong, kind, curious, and deeply devoted to his family. Now, Olga is faced with the unimaginable task of bringing his body home from Okanogan County to Bellevue and arranging a funeral to honor him with dignity and love.
