Help Build Campbell STEM’s Next Chapter: A Community Center for Generations
Campbell STEM has been more than a school. It has been a place where children learned, families connected, and neighbors came together. The Campbell STEM Preservation & Education Foundation (CSF) is working to keep that community purpose alive.
Our effort has entered a new chapter.
Following the settlement of our litigation with the Anchorage School District and Anchorage School Board, our focus has shifted toward securing a long-term future for the Campbell STEM building as a community center supporting education, recreation, and community needs.
Through discussions with the Municipality of Anchorage, participation in community meetings—including the recent second community meeting—and outreach to prospective partners, we are working to turn that vision into a practical, sustainable plan.
We are pursuing a partnership with the YMCA that would place the YMCA in the primary leadership and facility management role, with CSF serving as an active supporter and program administrator. This proposed arrangement would bring together the YMCA’s operational experience and the Foundation’s commitment to preserving Campbell STEM’s educational legacy and community connections.
Our vision includes space for STEM learning, youth and family activities, recreation, educational workshops, community meetings, and nonprofit programs. We are gathering information from interested organizations about their needs, whether for permanent daily space or occasional meetings and classes.
Progress is real, but the building’s future is not yet secured.
The Municipality’s proposal and approval process will determine who operates the facility and under what terms. Our goal is to help advance a coordinated proposal that reflects community needs and supports a lasting community center.

Since our founding, supporters have contributed more than $10,000, which supported the legal effort before settlement. That generosity allowed our community to advocate for Campbell STEM’s future. We are grateful to everyone who donated, attended meetings, shared information, or offered their time and expertise.
As we move forward, we are seeking donations to support the Foundation’s community outreach, partner coordination, program planning, and organizational expenses associated with this next phase. These contributions support CSF’s work toward the proposed community center; they do not guarantee a facility award or opening date.
This effort takes sustained work and community participation. Every contribution helps us continue, and sharing this fundraiser helps connect us with additional supporters and potential partners.
