Campbell STEM Elementary School is the only nationally certified STEM school in Alaska. The Anchorage School District Board voted to close Campbell as part of its efforts to reduce its budget deficit.
The Campbell community was given 6 business days from receiving the notice of possible closure to the Board’s vote of closure. Our community wasn’t given adequate time or opportunity to advocate for our school.
We’re not done fighting yet. Our fundraising campaign will help cover costs of spreading community awareness through advertising, obtaining legal counsel to review the closure process, and funding the school through donations.
