I recovered from breast cancer in 2023, but the sneaky disease came back in the form of leptomeningeal disease or leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. This is a cancer that is in my nervous system and as metastasized on my brain and along my spinal cord. I begin radiation treatment on Monday followed with IV chemo treatment and a long road of learning to live with whatever is to come. As far as I know right now this disease is treatable, but not curable. So I need to find a new way to live and work moving forward.
I have had my sights set on developing a property from the Louisville Land Bank, staying in my current neighborhood of district 6 near Shelby Park. I would like to build a garden with a garden folly or cottage and a workshop, all of which having ADA accommodations. Having done research on some of the great things that have taken place in Louisville in the past, like establishment of the Louisville Normal School, I wish to bring back some of the Civic projects that I read about in the archives of the University of Louisville.
I am super-stpked about opening a Christmas toy shop that specializes in bringing dolls to everyone at Christmas time. And the penny lunch program, well I envisioned having custom cookbooks for everyone that needs a diet that saves lives! Boy howdy do I know now how important nutrition is for a body that's riddled with cancer and other such ailments. Let's make food fun again! Oh yeah, having a couple of dolls and friends in real life can go a long way in bringing Joy year-round. :-)
