Today I met a family living in a tent in downtown LA.
I approached them and asked if they had any food they could spare. Without hesitation, they said yes and offered me tamales and chips.
Their generosity went even further. Lashay asked her daughter if she would be willing to give me her food too—and her daughter said yes.
To reward their kindness, we gave the family $500.
That’s when Lashay shared their story.
Lashay is a mom of three who was evicted from her home at the beginning of the year. Since then, she and her children have been homeless, living together in a tent on the streets of downtown LA.
And on top of everything they’re already facing, her son suffers from seizures throughout the night. While worrying about where her kids will sleep and how she’ll keep them protected, she’s also trying to get her son the medical care he desperately needs.
A mother and her three children shouldn’t have to live like this.
Let’s rally around Lashay and her kids, get them a home & help make sure her son can see the best doctors possible to get his seizures under control.
