Hello. Jerome Pitts here. I am in need of some help to raise funds so that my wife Donna and I can keep our home while she recovers from a terrible and expensive accident. She is 60 years old and has multiple health issues, heart, liver and lung disease in addition to high blood pressure and diabetes. On her insistence, we just started riding our newly aquired e bikes as a way to start getting back in shape. On July 9th, the second evening ride with our daughter and her fiance, she was sun blinded in a curve in the road and wound up on the edge of the pavement, causing her rear wheel to drop off into loose shoulder gravel. She was immediately slammed to the street at about 13 mph and had a brain bleed on impact along with breaking her wrist and fracturing her pelvis. I stayed with her at the ER and took Friday off ( my work schedule is Fri-Sun 5am-5 pm) as this was Thursday evening around 7:35pm when the accident happened. I had to ask my landlord to allow me to delay my rent 2 weeks to buy a few supplies for her care after discharge and extra over the counter meds that aren't covered by her insurance, so I made an agreement to pay more rent to cover the gap made by the accident. Now rent is half paid, but I am overdrafted and utilities are in danger of getting shut off. I take care of Dee when I am not working, but I can't properly clean her wounds without water, and she has to have electricity for her COPD accessories, which I can't immediately supply since I already am outside of my earnings capability to cover, so I am asking for help. Donations will help in getting to her appointments for re-xray and treatment items not covered by insurance, since most of them are an hour away in Bend, Oregon. Any help I can get to make her recovery bearable is greatly appreciated. I am one of those guys who, at 55 years of age, find it very hard to swallow my pride and ask for help. But I cannot do this without a hand to get back above the red line so that my wife can recover properly. Also, thank you all who stopped and offered to help us when we were moving her to the side of the road. Hello. It has been 8 weeks since the accident. I have been taking Donna to do her physical therapy and she is making good progress on her road to recovery. But we just found out that our youngest daughter hasbeen hit by a truck on the 26th of August and has a broken collar bone needing surgery, 7 broken ribs and a broken wrist and 2 fingers, so now I have Mom and Daughter with broken limbs directly opposite of each other's injuries. We really do need help financially. I owe money on so many bills and services that I need but can no longer afford because of having to use rent money for non covered meds and ambulatory supplies, and gas to go to appointments nearly an hour drive from our home, appointments that occurred weekly at first. Donna has had 3 differrent casts and several xrays done to determine healing at each appointment. She now has a wrist splint cast with velcro fasteners and is also undergoing occupational therapy for her broken pelvis. Please help us if you are able to, and if not, please share our story and maybe we will get some assistance eventually. Thank you to all who have taken a moment to visit here.
