We had to move out of our friends home due to her passing (RIP) so her family could sell it. We decided Covid or not to move to Idaho where John ‘s previous employer offered him a job.
In June our vehicle was t-boned when a driver ran a stop sign and totaled our car. We ended up financing a vehicle and now have a car payment. Good thing John is a hard working employee and we were able to barely budget a previously owned vehicle into our income.
All that came to a halt 3 months later when he was poisoned from carbon monoxide at his job in September. As most of you know, he is suffering from daily seizures, constant shaking and stuttering. Totally unable to work, drive or function at a normal capacity. He is only 50 years old and was very healthy. Due to the excessive amount of poisoning, the team of doctors we are working with have no idea if or when or how much he will recover. CO poisoning recovery is a very slow process if there is recovery. On the bright side he only has 2 to 3 seizures a day and his speech is slightly improving. We are unable to be around Christmas lights or any bright lights or flashing lights. Sounds, lights, movements, voices, pictures or objects can trigger a seizure.
We are living on my SS which will be bumped up to $750.00 a month beginning in January. Now we are fighting Workmen’s Comp and waiting for a deposition and a court date. We have used up our savings, pretty much sold everything of value and thanks to family and friends have been able to pay our bills through this month.
Social Security said it could take anywhere from 6 months to a year and a half before they make a decision. He does not qualify for unemployment because he is not able to work. There are no agencies that will provide financial help for seniors. We are thankful to be on Foodstamps and some medical.
If I haven’t bored you and you are still reading this please don’t think I am hosting a pity party. My husband is a very proud man and this is mentally, physically and emotionally draining him. He feels like he has failed me because he cannot work and pay our rent. It would be impossible for us to move in with anyone because his triggers can be caused by animals, children or even artwork. I am disabled so I cannot work. I am, asking that if anyone is in the financial situation where they could help us we would appreciate it. Hopefully Workmen’s Comp will kick in because it is the right thing to do or by order of the courts. Until then we are trying to live simply one month at a time.
IF YOU CANNOT OR DON’T WANT TO HELP, PLEASE DO NOT AVOID US. We need prayers, love, positive thoughts and friendship more than anything else. I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable or awkward because I care for all of you.
