In May of 2021 our world was turned upside down. Don was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer after a freak accident. From that point forward our world became a series of doctors, treatments, tests, new treatments, lifestyle changes, and a final diagnosis we weren’t ready to accept. We began drastic lifestyle and diet changes, counseling to eliminate stressors, found our support team and went to work. Just before thanksgiving Don, began to lose his appetite and began to lose weight. Stress was setting in as we tried to decide if we were going to take the plunge and travel to mexico for 3 weeks for treatment at an alternative medicine cancer clinic called Hope4Cancer. After a week and a half of Don declining, appetite reducing more and more, nausea became a more prominent problem, and an alarming amount of weight loss, we talked to our support team (our family) and decided going was the only option.
We made it to mexico, met with admissions, nursing, doctors, nutritionist, psychologist, and began a 21 day quest for health. 12-14 treatments a day, and each day Don got better and better. Our quest for healing was happening! And it made us so excited. It has been an incredible experience here in Mexico. A decision we are beyond thankful we made. Since being home we have continued doing as many of the treatments as we can that are available to us.
Don now has to go in March to follow up at Hope4Cancer. Unfortunately because it is in Mexico it is not a cost that is covered by insurance. The trip there and back, the stay there, and the 3 months of meds we need to come home with come with a price. We would appreciate any donation in any amount that may lesson the stress of the return trip to Mexico and furthering his treatments at home.
