On Sat Feb 11th we got the phone call no parent ever wants to get. Your son and his girlfriend have been in a very serious accident and are being life flighted to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Jake and Rachel both sustained a multitude of serious injuries. Jake has a broken sternum, many ribs on both sides, 2 partially collapsed lungs, a bruise on his brain, broken right hand, fractured pelvis and a injured right knee.
Rachel has a 2 broken legs(the right one shattered) broken left hand, internal bleeding, she also has a bruise on her brain. In the days since the accident she sustained a minor stroke with some deficit in her right arm.
They both have had surgeries to fix the broken bones but they both have a very long road ahead of them with their recovery.
Jake had the only income coming into the home. He will not be able to return to work for quite a while. Neither will be able to 100% care for themselves nor will the be able to do the 2 flights of stairs at their apartment. Not to mention their only running vehicle was totalled.
We are trying to raise some money to help the burden of all the piling bills and hopefully to get them into a 1st floor single level home. Their current home is on the second floor but the apartment is 2nd and 3rd.
