When I first moved into my apartment, I thought I was getting a fresh start. Instead, I walked into a nightmare I couldn’t escape. The kitchen, the heart of any home, quickly became a place I dreaded. Roaches would crawl out from the cabinets whenever I reached for a pot, pan, or mixing bowl. Cooking a meal wasn’t just unpleasant—it was impossible.
The problems didn’t stop there. My bathroom sink and tub faucet leaked constantly, the fixtures were outdated, and the entire place had an odor I could never get rid of. I tried everything—cleaning daily, using air fresheners—but the smell of roach and ant spray became the only thing I could breathe in my kitchen.
What makes it worse is that the apartment management knew about the roach problem before I moved in. They never told me. They never cleaned. They never sprayed for pests. And now I’m locked into a 15-month lease for a home that is unlivable.
I’m asking for help to break my lease and find a safe, clean place to live. Every contribution will bring me one step closer to leaving these conditions behind and finally having a home I can feel safe in.
