My husband is retired Navy, having served 22 years. We live off of that and both of our social security, so we're on a fixed income. We are in our seventies.
We recently worked on our will and the military attorney told us that we would have to make the care of our adult disabled son legally binding in the Will. We didn't know which one of his siblings would be taking him in after our passing and his sister and her husband stepped up and said they would.
The problem is: we live over 900 miles away from them. We are in Alabama and they are in central Texas. We believe its only fair to go there and make it easier for them to assume caregiver roles that way than to ask them to pull up stakes and move here.
I checked to see what moving our household belongings would cost to move. The quotes went from $7,500 to $9,500 . We'll be selling our current home (we own it) to be able to get a place to live once we get there, but we need the money for moving costs.
Living on a fixed income as seniors, and myself with a rare blood disorder, its going to be necessary to ask for help in the matter.
So if you could, and would be so kind as to help, it would be appreciated.
